LONGHORN
LEAN BEEF BET YOUR LIFE ON IT......Low in cholesterol... Moore's Longhorn Lean
Beef, for those of you who are a growing part of the army of health conscious
American consumers. Thanks to Texas Longhorn beef, today's health-conscious
consumer doesn't have to avoid tender juicy steaks. Not only is Longhorn beef
leaner than that of other breeds, it is also lower in saturated fats. The flavorful
Longhorn beef has less cholesterol and calories than chicken.
Longhorn beef has been proven to be lower in cholesterol and fats than any other
type of beef; as such it has proven itself to be the lean safe red meat. Many
who can not normally enjoy beef due to health concerns have found that longhorn
beef falls within the acceptable limits of what is allowed by their diets. Including
lean beef in a heart-healthy diet can positively impact blood cholesterol levels.
Studies have shown that eating lean beef can help increase HDL
cholesterol and reduce LDL
cholesterol in people with elevated cholesterol levels. Beef is the number
one source of protein, zinc and Vitamin B12, and the third best source of iron
in the food supply. You'd have to eat almost 12 cans of tuna to get the equivalent
amount of zinc in one 3 oz. serving of beef. It takes seven chicken breasts
to equal the Vitamin B12 in one 3 oz. serving of beef. Beef is also a good source
of selenium, providing 20-30% of the recommended daily allowance for men and
women. According to a recent analysis
by Professional Service Industries, Inc. in Arlington, Texas, Longhorn ground
beef showed 33 milligrams of cholesterol per 100 gram serving. This compares
to chicken breast without the skin at 58 milligrams according to the U.S. Department
of Agriculture. A study conducted by the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station
of Texas A&M showed that steaks from Texas Longhorns were lower in saturated
fat than steaks from traditional British breeds. Longhorn steaks were found
to have about 30 percent less muscle fat and 15 percent less saturated fat.
Additionally, taste panels showed that beef from Longhorn cattle was similar
in all measures of eating quality from typical grain fed cattle. Moore's Longhorn
Lean is chemical free -- this means NO hormones, NO antibiotics, and NO steroids.
We could grow our beef faster with these chemicals, but it is our desire to
